Nancy is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who has worked with children, adolescents, and adults throughout her professional life. She has worked in acute settlings like psychiatric hospitals, jails, and group homes, as well as in community-based prevention settings. Roughly half of her clients are teen girls and their families. The rest are people from six to sixty, struggling with everyday problems or major traumas. Nancy received her undergraduate degree from Pacific Lutheran University, and her Master's in Social Work from the University of Minnesota (the other U of M) in Minneapolis.
"Before I get started with a new client, I meet with them to make sure it's a good connection. I could be the best therapist in the world, but if you or your child don't like or connect with me, I won't do you much good. If we make a solid connection, we'll continue. Otherwise, I'll give you names of other therapists who might be a better fit."
Nancy has experience with a variety of treatment modalities. She has completed Basic EMDR and Emotionally Focused Therapy training. She believes in the transforming power of relationships, and comes at therapy from a place of love and strength, believing that there is hope- no matter how dark and frightening things have become.
